วันที่ 5 ส.ค. 2568  อันวาร์ อิบราฮิม มาเลเซีย ประกาศกร้าวจะไม่ยอมเสียดินแดนในรัฐซาบาห์แม้แต่ตารางนิ้วเดียวให้อินโดนีเซีย กรณีการอ้างสิทธิ์ทับซ้อนพื้นที่พิพาท ในทะเลสุลาเวสีที่มีทรัพยากรน้ำมันมหาศาล ND6 และ ND7 พร้อมระบุว่าพื้นที่ดังกล่าวอยู่ในเขตมาเลเซีย อ้างสิทธิ์เรียกว่า ทะเลสุลาเวสี ตามชื่อเรียกของมาเลเซีย ไม่ใช่ อัมบาลัต ตามที่อินโดนีเซียเรียก


ขณะที่ อันวาร์ ออกแถลงการณ์ดังกล่าวระหว่างการเยือนเมือง โกตาคินาบาลู [ปลายเดือน กรกฎาคม] และเป็น ข่าว ทั้งอินโดนีเซีย และมาเลเซีย จนถึงขณะนี้ นายกรัฐมนตรีมาเลเซีย อันวาร์ อิบราฮิม ยืนยันว่า รัฐบาลจะปกป้อง สิทธิและอธิปไตยของรัฐซาบาห์ ในการเจรจากับอินโดนีเซียเกี่ยวกับข้อพิพาทบริเวณพื้นที่อุดมด้วยน้ำมัน อัมบาลัต ในทะเลสุลาเวสี ใกล้ชายฝั่งตะวันออกของซาบาห์ทั้งสองประเทศ จะเจรจากันยกแรก ในวันที่ 5/8/2025 มาเลเซียกับอินโดนีเซียมีการเจรจาเรื่องเขตแดนทางทะเลอย่างต่อเนื่องผ่านการประชุม ตั้งแต่ปี 2005

On August 5, 2025, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim made a strong declaration that his government would not yield even a single square inch of land in the state of Sabah to Indonesia. This statement comes in response to overlapping territorial claims in the resource-rich Sulawesi Sea, particularly concerning the oil-laden ND6 and ND7 blocks. Anwar asserted that the disputed area falls under Malaysian sovereignty and referred to it as part of the “Sulawesi Sea,” rejecting Indonesia’s designation of the area as “Ambalat.”

Anwar made this statement during a visit to Kota Kinabalu in late July — a visit that has become headline news in both Indonesia and Malaysia. He reaffirmed that the Malaysian government will firmly defend Sabah’s sovereignty and rights in upcoming negotiations with Indonesia over the disputed offshore area, which lies near Sabah’s eastern coast.

The first round of bilateral talks is scheduled for August 5, 2025. Malaysia and Indonesia have been in discussions over maritime boundaries in the region since 2005 through various official meetings.
