วันที่ 2 ส.ค. 2568 สถานเอกอัครราชทูตญี่ปุ่น โพสต์ข้อความบนเฟซบุ๊ก ระบุว่า เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 1 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2568 นายโอตากะ มาซาโตะ เอกอัครราชทูตญี่ปุ่นประจำประเทศไทย และ พันเอกอุเมทานิ เออิจิ ผู้ช่วยทูตฝ่ายทหาร ได้เข้าร่วมกับคณะผู้แทนทางการทูตเข้าสังเกตการณ์พื้นที่ในจังหวัดศรีสะเกษ และจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี พร้อมทั้งรับฟังรายงานล่าสุดในเรื่องสถานการณ์ชายแดนไทย-กัมพูชา ซึ่งจัดโดยรัฐบาลไทย

สถานเอกอัครราชทูตญี่ปุ่นประจำประเทศไทย ขอแสดงความเสียใจอย่างสุดซึ้งต่อความสูญเสียที่เกิดขึ้นจากการปะทะกันทางทหารบริเวณชายแดนไทย-กัมพูชา ที่เกิดขึ้นเมื่อไม่นานมานี้ และขอแสดงความห่วงใยไปถึงผู้ที่ได้รับบาดเจ็บ ผู้ได้รับความเสียหาย และผู้อพยพหนีภัยจากการสู้รบทุกท่าน ในการเข้าสังเกตการณ์พื้นที่ในวันนี้ ยังได้มีโอกาสพูดคุยสอบถามสารทุกข์สุขดิบกับผู้ได้รับผลกระทบและผู้อพยพโดยตรง และหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าสถานการณ์ในพื้นที่ดังกล่าวจะกลับมาสู่ความสงบสุขอีกครั้งในเร็ววัน

รัฐบาลญี่ปุ่นยินดีเป็นอย่างยิ่ง ที่ประเทศไทยและประเทศกัมพูชา ทั้งสองประเทศสามารถบรรลุข้อตกลงหยุดยิงในทันทีโดยไม่มีเงื่อนไข โดยหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่า ข้อตกลงหยุดยิงนี้จะยังคงดำเนินอยู่ต่อไป และเพื่อฟื้นฟูความสัมพันธ์ของทั้งสองประเทศให้กลับสู่สภาวะปกติอีกครั้ง การลดระดับความตึงเครียด ซึ่งรวมไปถึงการปฏิบัติตามข้อตกลงหยุดยิงอย่างจริงจัง ถือเป็นสิ่งที่ขาดไปเสียไม่ได้ โดยรัฐบาลญี่ปุ่นจะให้ความร่วมมือมากที่สุดเท่าที่จะสามารถทำได้

"Japanese Embassy" Visits Thai-Cambodian Border, Expresses Condolences over Clashes, Supports Permanent Ceasefire, and Pledges Full Cooperation

On August 2, 2025, the Embassy of Japan in Thailand posted a message on Facebook stating that on Friday, August 1, 2025, H.E. Mr. Masato Otaka, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand, and Colonel Eiji Umetani, Defense Attaché, joined a diplomatic delegation to observe the situation in Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani provinces. The visit included briefings organized by the Thai government on the latest developments along the Thai-Cambodian border.

The Embassy of Japan in Thailand expressed its deepest condolences for the loss of life resulting from the recent military clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border. The embassy also conveyed its concern for the injured, those affected by the conflict, and displaced individuals. During the field visit, the delegation had the opportunity to speak directly with those impacted and displaced by the violence and expressed hope that peace and stability would soon return to the affected areas.

The Japanese government welcomed the immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement reached between Thailand and Cambodia. It expressed its strong hope that the ceasefire would hold and pave the way for restoring normal relations between the two nations. Japan emphasized that easing tensions—including the faithful implementation of the ceasefire agreement—is essential, and affirmed that the Japanese government stands ready to provide as much support and cooperation as possible.
